FAQS

Why does the measuring need to be done by a qualified installer of Comptoirs 2000?

The measures are very important and require special attention for the following reasons:

  • The angles of the walls as well as the returns when there are panels need to be taken into consideration.
  • The overtaking of the front door cabinets
  • To ensure that the sink is not oversized for the installation
  • To determine where the seals will meet if applicable
  • To determine if the counter should be raised and by how much

Why do the cabinets need to be installed before measuring?

The cabinets need to be installed before the technician passes for accurate measuring. The size of the new cabinets may differ from the old ones. This avoids significant errors that may not be correctable by the installation crew on delivery.

What is the delay between the ordering and delivery of the countertop?

The delivery time will vary depending on the counter and availability for the chosen color. On average, expect a period ranging between 2 and 3 weeks for an acrylic solid surface or a solid edge countertop and between 3 and 5 weeks for a quartz, granite or butcher bloc countertop.

What should be done in my home before the measurements?

  • Make sure you possess the sink (or template for cutting) that will be in the new countertop, if applicable.
  • Have on hand specifications for new appliances (stove, cooktop, …), if applicable.
  • Ensure that existing countertop surfaces are not congested for the convenience of the technician.

What should i know and be done in my home before the installation of the countertop?

  • If you have not agreed to the removal of existing countertops by Comptoirs 2000, you must ensure that they are removed before the arrival of the installer.
  • If you agreed to the removal of existing countertops from the Comptoirs 2000 installers, please ensure the correct operation of water stop valves if faucets are present on the counters. Comptoirs 2000 is not responsible for damage caused by plumbing malfunctions.
  • Have available the sink and faucets, if applicable.
  • Have the specifications for new appliances (stove, cooktop, …), if applicable.

  •  We are not responsible for damage that may occur to ceramic wall tiles due to old counter removal.
  • Please keep pets and children away from tools and work area.
  • Installers are not permitted to carry out adjustment work in the street.
  •  Please ensure that snow and ice are removed from walkways to prevent accidents/breakage to both counters and installers.
  • Always have a responsible person aged 18 or more on site.
  • Incidental damage: final wall preparation should not be completed prior to installation. Care will be exercised during the countertop installation, however, scrapes, punctures or digs to the wall surfaces are possible, as are scratches and scrapes to cabinetry.
These items are considered incidental damage and are the customer’s responsibility to repair.

How to prepare for a measure

  • Please clear off the countertops being measured.
All small appliances should also be removed from counter surface.
  • Ensure that a home owner is home for the measure for questions pertaining to the countertops.
  • Please have new sink and appliances (stove or fridge) on site the day of the
measure and please notify the person measuring that there are new appliances being installed.  This is to ensure that they will fit properly in your space.
  • All cabinets must be installed prior to measure. Cabinet adjustments can not be made after the measure is completed. If backsplash tile is being changed please ensure that the old tile is removed prior to the measure.
  • Empty out sink cabinet so the person measuring can see the plumbing.
  • Empty all lower cabinets. Existing counter tops, if any, must be cleaned off.
  • Pull out all drawers and store safely out of the way.
  • Water must be shut off.  Please remember that we do not install water
filters, reverse osmosis systems or garborators.
  • All appliances (fridge & stove) must be moved out of the way.  Please ensure
that the delivery person and installer have room to move countertops around the space.
  • Existing dishwashers must be unfastened, disconnected and moved out of the space unless a re & re dishwasher is part of their package.  If doing a self
re & re dishwasher the customer must install dishwasher clips.
  • Please note that we do not install new dishwashers.
  • Electrical & gas cook tops must be disconnected prior to the install.  We do
not install electrical or gas cook tops.
  • If the installer has to move the appliances (fridge & stove) there will be a
2x labour charge applied to the balance owed on the install.
  • If a template is done we drill a hole in the existing tops to hold the
    template down.
  • No plumbing can be done in a condo or apartment building above the 2nd
    floor.
  • All cabinets must not be modified after the measure has been done. Please
check with your sales person with any concerns you may have prior to your
    order being placed.

Do you do plumbing?

Comptoirs 2000 handles the installation of under mount sinks* but does not perform the plumbing, nor the installation of faucets. We recommend you consult a plumber with the competencies necessary for connecting the sink and faucets.

* In the case of regular sink installations Comptoirs 2000 will only cut the hole.
